2 Metre: note that the resolution at the 4th here is unusual in that we have to take the negative as the first syllable in the resolution; it appears that the negative is so closely attached syntactically to the word it modifies that it is sometimes taken as though it were part of the following word prosodically.

8 BJT, PTS: upassaggaṃ; the variant reading recorded here is m.c. to produce the pathyā cadence, but the fifth variation (vipulā) is acceptable, so there is no need for a change in the normal word form.

12 ChS: bhogānañca. Metre: we might have expected a reading vā here as the shortening of the vowel is not required m.c. It has probably arisen through imitation of va (< vā) in the previous lines.

14 PTS: aggī - this reading corrects the metre by avoiding 2 shorts in 2nd & 3rd positions, but it doesn't have good manuscript support.

17 Metre: this is the extended form of the Tuṭṭhubha metre, pausing at the fifth and re-starting from the same syllable.

20 Metre: note that sa is read here m.c. for so, to produce the required cadence.

25 PTS numbers this verse 143a. Note that the long ā in this line is m.c. to produce the normal cadence.

26 The break is unusual here, having a long 6th without the caesura which normally follows it. We should probably understand saṃvÕgino m.c.

27 PTS numbers this part of the verse as 143b, and starts 144 from the next line.
